Acetylcysteine solution is a solution of a naturally occurring amino acid that is used to help clear mucus (acts as a mucolytic agent) and material entrapped in mucus that may interfere with breathing or other functions.

Acetylcysteine. Each ml contains acetylcysteine 200 mg, edetate disodium and dihydrate .5 mg. Contains sodium hydroxide and may contain hydrochloric acid for ph adjustment.

What are the side effects of Acetylcysteine 20% Solution, USP, 30 ml?
While generally safe and effective when prescribed by a Veterinarian, Acetylcysteine can cause side effects in some animals. Acetylcysteine should not be used in animals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug. Since Acetylcysteine can cause spasms of the lower airways, this drug should be used with caution in animals with lung disease that predisposes to airway spasms. There are no contraindications for the use of Acetylcysteine as an antidote for acetaminophen toxicity. Acetylcysteine may interact with other medications. Consult with your veterinarian to determine if other drugs your pet is receiving could interact with Acetylcysteine. Such drugs include activated charcoal. Acetylcysteine has a very bad taste and foul sulfur odor. Nausea and vomiting are potential side effects. The bad taste of the drug can also cause drooling.

Contact your nearest emergency animal hospital.
How can I store Acetylcysteine 20% Solution, USP, 30 ml?
Store at 20* to 25* C (68*-77* F). After opening store in refrigerator at 2* to 8* C (36* to 46* F). Discard opened vial after 96 hours. A change in color may occur after opening. This does not change the efficacy of the drug.
