How does CitraVet (Potassium Citrate), 60 chewable tablets work?
CitraVet contains potassium citrate to increase the urine alkalinity, which helps maintain and manage a healthy urine pH. CitraVet increases citrate levels in the bladder causing the calcium in the bladder to bind to the citrate instead of the oxalate, which prevents the formation of calcium oxalate stones (urinary stones).

What are the side effects of CitraVet (Potassium Citrate), 60 chewable tablets?
If any of the following serious side effects occur, stop giving CitraVet Potassium Citrate and seek emergency veterinary medical attention: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; swelling of the lips; tongue or face; hives), abdominal pain, black bloody or tarry stools, blood in vomit or muscle weakness or irregular heartbeats. Other less serious side effects may occur. Continue giving CitraVet Potassium Citrate and talk to your veterinarian if your pet has slight nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea or loose stools. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that seems unusual or bothersome to your pet.

Overview
Use as directed by your Veterinarian. 

The chewable tablets are double-scored can be given whole or crumbled over food. The recommended dose for CitraVet Potassium Citrate is 1 tablet per 22 lbs, 1/2 tablet per 11 lbs, and 1/4 tablet per 5 lbs every 12 hours or as prescribed by your veterinarian.
